Experience the power of song to celebrate and cultivate kindness. More than a decade ago, I felt led to work on a song about kindness. Not a singer, not a songwriter, I had no idea why me. I just showed up and said yes. Phrase by phrase, the first version emerged. After attending Joel Lindsey's songwriting seminar and letting the song sit awhile, the first version became three separate songs, c.2014.
Later, I found a way to bring them together as When I See Kindness in Your Eyes, c. 2017. When I hired someone to make a demo with guitar accompaniment, I heard a different feel in the result. As my intention had been to offer a song for reflection, I recorded that song a cappella in my inexperienced voice. In 2021, reflecting on God's lovingkindness led me to write a version that brought attention to God's lovingkindness. My rendition of When I See Kindness in Your Eyes was set aside.
